My FTP/control panel password is not being accepted. What should I do?
The most common reason that you are getting an i ncorrect Username or password error is because you have changed the password from the Online Control Panel, and you tried to make the password more than 8 characters. Simple as that. The system only allows passwords up to 8 characters. Go back to your control panel, click on Change Password and change the password to something 8 characters or less, and it will probably work. You may alsotry your password with just the first 8 characters, that sometimes works too. You should also make sure you have your cookies enabled.

What is anonymous FTP?
Anonymous FTP is the ability to upload and/or download files from our servers without having a login username and password. Obviously, for security reasons, we only allow anonymous FTP to specific directories.

After anonymous FTP is setup (THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE DOMAIN OWNER GOING TO HIS/HER CONTROL PANEL AND CLICKING ON THE ANON FTP BUTTON, IF THEIR ACCOUNT COMES WITH IT), it will create a directory called domain-anonftp in YOUR home directory. This directory will by default contain the following directories:

/incoming

/pub

The "pub" is where YOU should put files that you want to have users anonymously download. Users can access this directory via a browser by going to:

ftp://domain.ext/pub

Note: We do not allow YOU the ability to allow your users to both upload and download to the same directory. We do this for security reasons. You are responsible for moving files from the /incoming directory to the /pub directory if you wish for uploaded files also to be downloaded.

The incoming directory would be:

ftp://domain.ext/incoming

This directory is writable from the web but NOT readable. No one coming in from the web (or from an FTP program logging in as "anonymous") can see what files are stored here

You would have people UPLOAD to that dir:
ftp://domain.ext/incoming
You would then DECIDE which files YOU want to make available for PUBLIC download by MOVING them into the:
ftp://domain.ext/pub
directory.

How does someone upload files anonymously?
If someone would like to upload files to you, they need to put them in the /incoming directory.

The incoming directory would be:

ftp://domain.ext/incoming

This directory is writable from the web but NOT readable. No one coming in from the web (or from an FTP program logging in as "anonymous") can see what files are stored here.

You would have people UPLOAD to that dir:
ftp://domain.ext/incoming
You would then DECIDE which files YOU want to make available for PUBLIC download by MOVING them into the:
ftp://domain.ext/pub
directory.

Note - if your customer experiences slow download performance, chances are it's a problem on the internet. We maintain a large margin of available bandwidth so bottlenecks never occur within our network. Please feel free to send an inquiry to be sure all the servers are operating properly, if you @include there ISP's IP# we will run traceroutes to see where the delays are occurring, or they if your user's know how to run their own traceroutes and can send them to us that be even greater help is pinpointing trouble.
