Accessing
your email account?
Accessing your e-mail involves an interaction between your home computer
or PC and the server where your mail resides. The mail is received by
the Burningbulb servers, but to access it you must download it to your
home computer. That is the purpose of client software like Outlook.
When you send a test e-mail, you can check to see whether it has been
received by the correct e-mail box, even without downloading the mail.
Here is what you do: Go to the Control Panel of the site. Enter the File
Manager. Click on the link for the $domain-mail directory. In the $domain-mail
directory, you should see a file with the same name as your e-mail account.
Click on that, and you will see whether the mail you sent has arrived.
Now you need to download your e-mail. The e-mail sent to your e-mail accounts
sits in files on the server until you download it. To download it, you
need client mail software such as Outlook, Eudora, or Pegasus. Everyone
in your company who has an e-mail account under your domain name can do
the same thing with their mail. They download it to their own PC, and
since the process is automatically password protected, no one can download
anyone else's mail unless he/she knows the password.
The e-mail program (eg. Outlook) needs to know 1) the SMTP server (use
your ISP), 2) the POP server (your domain name), 3) the name of the e-mail
address, and 4) the password for that e-mail address.
